3D Viewing, Is It Safe?

Around 10% of people cannot watch a movie in 3D. They claim they get eye strains, become dizzy or feel sick when they watch in 3D. Is watching in 3D dangerous and are there any after effects which could harm us?

The eyes naturally allow us 3D vision (talking in general with two functioning eyes). Our brain processes what we see in a 3D image. When we watch a 3D movie, the image is a 3D projection, a simulation. To skip over the technical stuff, the eyes and brain must do overtime when processing this 3D simulated projection in order for us to understand it.

This maintained concentration from the eyes can lead to eye strain (especially as movies are usually on for about an hour and a half). If the brain is unable to cope with the extra stress, then dizziness may occur. The effect from watching in 3D affects everyone, main difference is people have different levels of tolerance and around 90% of people can cope reasonable well with watching in 3D. However, watching in 3D is not dangerous to the body and health.

What are your greatest fears? Spiders? Small spaces? Heights? In many surveys, these are often the most common answers as well as dying, losing loved ones, going to dentists, making big speeches and more. If you ask me what one of my greatest fears is, then it would be going blind.

Going blind means you won’t be able to see your family and friends again visually. You won’t be able to see the beautiful breath-taking picturesque earth again.
